Travelling to Bhutan from Europe

Travel from Europe

Bhutan tours from Europe

London, Frankfurt, Paris, Zurich and beyond: the connections that work, and how long to plan for.

The journey

Flying to Bhutan from Europe

European travellers reach Paro through Delhi, Doha, Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore or Kathmandu. Delhi and Kathmandu give the shortest total journey, Bangkok gives the most reliable schedule.

With one connection each way, we suggest nine to fourteen days in Bhutan, which is enough for the western valleys plus Bumthang, a trek or a festival.

Routes that work

  • London

Via Delhi, Doha or Dubai, then Paro.

  • Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris

Via Delhi, Doha or Bangkok, then Paro.

  • Amsterdam, Milan, Madrid

Via Doha, Dubai or Delhi, then Paro.

Best time to go
March to May for spring flowers, September to November for the clearest mountains and the big festivals.
Visa
European passport holders need a Bhutan visa, which we apply for after your trip is confirmed. The daily Sustainable Development Fee is included in your quote.
