How Much a Bhutan Trip Costs

An honest breakdown of what a Bhutan trip costs: the daily fee, hotels, guide, transport and what changes the price.

Overview

What you should know

There is no single price for Bhutan. Your cost depends on the season, the standard of hotel, how many people share the vehicle, and how many nights you stay.

What does not change is what is included. Every trip we run comes with a private guide, a private vehicle and driver, all meals, all entrance fees, permits and the daily Sustainable Development Fee.

What makes up the price

  • The daily Sustainable Development Fee, set by the government
  • Hotels: three-star, four-star, boutique or luxury lodge
  • Private guide and private vehicle for your group alone
  • All meals, entrance fees, permits and visa processing
  • Extras such as hot stone baths, rafting, ceremonies or trek crews

Where you can save

  • Travel in the quieter months: December to February, or June to August
  • Choose comfortable three-star hotels rather than luxury lodges
  • Travel as two or four people so vehicle and guide costs are shared
  • Keep the route tight instead of adding long drives east

What we will not cut

We do not shorten guide days, share vehicles between unrelated guests, or use hotels we have not stayed in ourselves. If a budget cannot cover a good trip, we will say so rather than deliver a poor one.
