Bhutan Visa: How It Works
Everything about the Bhutan visa: who needs one, what we need from you, and how long approval takes.
Overview
What you should know
You do not apply for a Bhutan visa yourself, and you do not visit an embassy. Your licensed tour operator applies on your behalf once your trip is confirmed. We do this for every guest.
The visa is issued electronically before you fly, and the clearance letter is checked at the airport in your departure city and again on arrival in Paro.
What we need from you
- A clear colour scan of your passport photo page, valid for at least six months beyond travel
- A passport-style photograph
- Your confirmed international flight details
- Travel insurance details, including medical cover
How long it takes
Once your itinerary and payment are confirmed, approval usually takes five to seven working days. We send you the visa clearance letter by email; you carry a printed or digital copy.
The visa is stamped in your passport when you arrive in Paro, at no extra step for you.
Indian, Bangladeshi and Maldivian nationals
Indian nationals do not need a visa. You travel on an entry permit with a valid passport or Voter ID, and a concessional daily fee applies. We arrange the permits and route permits for you.
