5 Days in Bhutan

Itinerary

5 Days in Bhutan

A short, well-paced first visit: Paro, the Tiger's Nest and the warm Punakha valley over Dochula pass.

How the days flow

Five days is the shortest trip we recommend. Two of those days include your flights, so the plan has to be tight and honest about what fits.

We keep it to two valleys, Paro and Punakha, so you are not spending your holiday in a car. The Tiger's Nest walk sits on a full day of its own.

  1. Day 1

Arrive in Paro, gentle valley walk, Kyichu Lhakhang, early night.

  2. Day 2

Tiger's Nest monastery walk from first light, farmhouse lunch, hot stone bath.

  3. Day 3

Drive over Dochula pass to Punakha, Chimi Lhakhang, riverside evening.

  4. Day 4

Punakha Dzong, the long suspension bridge, walk to Khamsum Yulley chorten.

  5. Day 5

Return to Paro and fly out.
