Flights to Bhutan
Who flies to Paro, which cities connect, and why the flight into the valley is unlike any other landing.
Overview
What you should know
Two airlines serve Bhutan: Drukair, the national carrier, and Bhutan Airlines. Paro is the only international airport, and the approach between the ridges is one of the most memorable landings in the world.
Only a small number of pilots are certified to fly into Paro, and flights operate in daylight with good visibility only. That is why we always plan a buffer night in your connecting city.
Cities with flights to Paro
- Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Guwahati and Mumbai, India
- Kathmandu, Nepal
- Bangkok, Thailand
- Singapore
- Dhaka, Bangladesh
- Seasonal and selected-day services to other regional cities
Booking notes
- Book the Paro sector before fixing your long-haul dates
- Sit on the left flying Kathmandu to Paro for Everest views
- Baggage limits on the Paro sector are tighter than long-haul
- Weather delays happen; never plan a same-day onward connection
Overland entry
You can also enter Bhutan by road from India at Phuentsholing, Gelephu or Samdrup Jongkhar. It adds a day of driving but costs less and is very scenic.
