Bhutan Photography Tours

Built around light, not checklists. Dawn passes, dzongs at dusk and permission arranged before you lift the camera.

The trip

About this trip

This trip is planned backwards from the light. We arrive at dzongs and passes at the hour they photograph best, and we wait, rather than rushing to the next stop.

Your guide handles permissions and introductions, so portraits are made with consent and conversation rather than a long lens from the road.

Highlights

  • Blue hour at Punakha Dzong and the prayer-flag bridge
  • Dawn on Dochula pass with the Himalayan range
  • Portrait sessions with weavers and monks, arranged in advance
  • Tiger's Nest in first light
  • Night sky over a quiet valley

Important information

  • Every visitor to Bhutan travels with a licensed operator. We handle your permits, visa and daily government fee paperwork.
  • Tiger's Nest and other high walks mean a steady climb. We build in slow, easy pacing so you can adjust to the altitude.
  • Festival and trek dates follow the Bhutanese lunar calendar and change each year. We check the exact dates before you book.
  • This day-by-day plan is a starting point. We can change it around your interests, pace and travel dates.
  • Photography is not allowed inside most temple sanctums. Your guide will always tell you clearly where cameras are welcome.
  • Drone use requires government permission and is rarely granted. Please ask us before you travel.
